I have lived in big cities and small towns. I have lived in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Oregon and California. I have travelled somewhat and returned to Virginia in 1988 to raise my children.
I remember long walks in autumn and playing kick ball in the street at dusk from my childhood days at Quantico and I wanted my children to have the same happy and healthy roots before entering the hustle and bustle of the adult world.
I love Virginia and everything it has to offer. We have seashores and mountains, boating and skiing, culture and country, churches and nightclubs. Our area reaches out internationally and yet we maintain our "Hometown Attitude". There is plenty of history to absorb. Sometimes just walking down the street or reading the paper your run across a bit of information that was always there but now it brings a new interest or understanding to the day's events.
The schools in our area are wonderful. I have four children from 6 to 20 and one in every school system...elementary, junior, high and college. I can not speak enough of the sense of community and the importance it has in keeping family values strong.
My husband commutes to Northern Virginia and works hard and enjoys brainstorming with others in the financial software accounting industry as he is engulfed in the human resource and software development for several national corporations.
However, we know the value of family and often take turns making our home relaxed, while we juggle professional and personal responsibilites and relationships.
That is what life is all about....building relationships...relationships with people we can depend upon...and that is who I strive to be.
